Alfonso Birolo
Alfonso Birolo was born in 1927 in San Sebastiano Po, Italy. After graduating from the Politecnic Institute in Torino he devoted himself to a full artistic life.
In a post impressionist manner, people, things and places in Birolo's paintings are real, part of his everyday countryside surroundings. They are transformed however by atmospheric and spiritual values coming from within. The presence of light is a unifying theme in his paintings, executed with a refined pointillist technique. The use of separate pure colors gives to his work a special quality of brilliance and movement.
Since 1953, Birolo has participated to numerous one-man and collective shows with prestigious galleries and institutions in Italy and has received many important prizes for his work.
